Care and maintenance of Shogi board

I have just taken delivery of a 1-sun shinkaya Shogi table-board. It's fantastic - I've been havering about making this purchase for at least three years, and I'm just glad I finally did it.

Question now is what to do to keep it pristine? Do I polish it? Oil it? What with? Do I leave it out of its box in order to acquire a 'patina', or do I keep it in the box?

Any advice welcome.

Ah! I can answer my own question. I just found this:
