I recently came across the magazine Variant Chess (1990-2010, 60+ issues), available as a complete
download (~100Mb, ~1300 pages), or as individual issue downloads from:

I have done a quick search, and the following issues appear to have articles relating to Shogi and/or
Shogi variants: 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 19, 24, 25, 42. These may be of interest to readers of this forum?

Also available from the same web site is the 2nd edition of David Pritchard's Encyclopaedia of Chess
Variants.
