I have created a first draft of a set of templates for making a Chu Shogi set. YOU WILL NEED AN A3 PRINTER.

Go to https://tinyurl.com/RogersShogiArchive and download the file: DIY Chu Shogi set.pdf

I'm still working out the best way to use Dropbox, so if you have any problems, the full URL is:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/uk0v32avecjty7q/DIY%20Chu%20Shogi%20set.pdf?dl=0

If you do have problems, please let me know, so I can fix it.

The set consists of instructions, two boards, pieces and three wood-effect background sheets (if you want to be fancy). The pieces are based on scans of a set shown in an old leaflet. I suspect that the relative sizes of the pieces are not what would be found in an actual set of Chu Shogi pieces, but there is not much to be done about this - it is extremely difficult to scale these pieces - the images seem to degrade when I try it - they'll have to stay ASIS for the time being.

If I can find a better set of images, I will consider posting a revised set of templates.

If you try this out, please let me know of any problems you have.

I might try Wa Shogi next...

Thank you - we do our best.

I have now replaced the original DIY Chu Shogi set with version 2 - a set based on Chris Bogert's very nice 'wooden' board and pieces. Used with Chris's permission. This is *far* superior to my first effort which has been removed. Thanks to Chris for granting permission to use these images!
