Hi, I have known about shogi for many years from hidetchi's youtube videos, but I have only just started playing. I like to play igo as well, but I find shogi fascinating.

Hope to make good friends here! And actually win a shogi game someday too, haha

Welcome! I play go as well, though I am in a 1-2 stone slump right now, and have been revisiting Shogi.

I've found that tsumeshogi were very helpful in getting me past the hurdle of feeling like I was just moving pieces hoping the opponent mated themselves. Once you have a basic understanding of how to force mates, the entire rest of the game starts to coalesce in your mind, I think.

I just started playing the other day as well. I have been playing western chess all my life so having some difficulty utilizing some of shogi's mechanics.
