As you understand, the Pinwheel is not suitable for a beginner, but if you want to learn it, I recommend learning the old Central Rook (such as the Silver Horns Central Rook) and Right King, 
Because the way some of pieces move is similar to Pinwheel.

Yes, I would like to use it as my main playing strategy. Although, I understand it may not be suitable for beginners.

It's difficult question, because Pinwheel is extremely defensive strategy. 
It moves with the opponent's attacking position, so there is no set movement to follow.
Does that mean you want to play using that strategy?
