I'm cross-posting this announcement (by another user) from the Board Games Geek Shogi forum.

Stephen Tavener's program Ai Ai is a Java-based general game playing engine. Recently a lot of Shogi variants were added to Ai Ai. There is also online play available.

I haven't tried to install/use it yet, but it looks rather interesting?

Efren, hi.

Not sure if I fully understand your comment. I haven't had a chance to investigate this beast yet, but if you are asking:

"Is this an internet-based Java application?"

then, my understanding is that the answer is:

"No, it is a stand-alone application which runs on your computer without being connected to the internet."(*)

If I've understood correctly, it is possible to connect to the internet to play against other people.

--------

(*) From my point of view, this is fine - every internet based program I have ever tried, (non-games applications) has been broken, so I have little faith in them.

Sounds quite nicer, but… isn't Java working anymore in a movile web briwser?
… so i have to wait to get home to try it.

This is 81Dojo's web system for account and data management. The entrance to the shogi app can be found in the main site at https://81dojo.com.
