About 1 year ago, I saw a tournament where you had to move the king forward to the 4th row.   The king in on the 1st row at the start of the game.  The king had to be on the 4th row for 1 move, and then could go anywhere.  The king had to be on the 4th row before move #34.   There is a Japanese name for this type of game.
