Is shogi for everyone?

One of the most challenging things in promoting shogi outside of Japan is, without a doubt, keeping people interested.

What makes me think, is shogi a hobby for everyone?

Yeah, I believe that too. It is difficult to reach new members.

What about virtual activities, hHave you ever try something like that?

not at all.

Myself have gotten teaching it for several years, starting from a Japanese Cultural, to more geek/otaku Manga & Anime Conventions.

Many get interest but after leaving the teaching at the conventions... none ( or about 1%, or no less) do.

Who I find more open are those qho really like Thought games, like Chess, and so on. They are more potencially the ones who will keep hook on Shogi after learn the very basics.

... but everyone is different, Myself, I don't really like Chess, but I have got hooked by Shogi and igo (Baduck / Weiki). and also "Riichi", the Japanese rules for Mah-jong
... but no Xang-qi ( Chinese "Chess") it's even more simple than western Chess.
